Tree Kits

To appreciate, value and work on behalf of trees, first we have to see them—not as outdoor backdrops in our busy lives, but as living entities which

enrich our lives in so many ways. Awareness starts with education, and to this end, NeighbourWoods has developed a series of hands-on tree activities for elementary students. Every activity meets Ontario Curriculum guidelines, to ensure that there is a real benefit to teachers. In addition to print materials that outline each activity, kits also include 2 picture books and a tree cookie. Makes a great gift for that teacher on your list!

This project was led by Lynda Golletz, an elementary teacher and tree lover. We are grateful to her for her hard work.

We also have an adult program that will heighten awareness and interest in trees, provide valuable tips and information about taking care of trees as well as seeking NeighbourWoods volunteers. This program is ideal for service clubs, seniors groups, horticultural clubs etc.—if your Centre Wellington club would like a visit from a NeighbourWoods presenter, just let us know and we’d be happy to give you details.

This program is sponsored in part by the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Township of Centre Wellington.
