Brent Cooper ( Halton region)

Brent has been a Certified Energy Advisor since 2002 as well as being a member of the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors for the past 9 years. He is also a consultant for Homes and Cottages magazine, answering reader questions in a column entitled Helpline. Brent has a wealth of experience after his 20 years doing residential renovations and thoroughly enjoys helping homeowners improve the efficiency, comfort and quality of their homes. Brent lives in Ballinafad , which is a small hamlet located south of Erin.
 

Stephen Downs (Southwest – Sarnia/Lambton/Chatham region)

Stephen came to Canada 17 years ago from New Zealand after working in the New Zealand Air Force as an Aircraft Engineer. Stephen has a Mechanical Engineering Technology degree and has conducted more than 1,500 home energy audits over the past 4 years.  He also is a consultant involved with the EnergyStar program for new houses. Stephen covers the south-western Ontario area of Sarnia-Lambton-Chatham and lives in Sarnia.
 

Richard Gillespie (London region)

Richard has extensive experience dealing with energy efficiency and conservation issues for homeowners and was selected as an advisor for the Energuide for Houses pilot project. He has been with the Elora Environment Centre since 2005 and lives in London.
 

Grant Jones (Guelph/Wellington region)

Grant has always had a passion for working on and restoring old buildings and has spent a considerable portion of his life involved in upgrading houses and commercial properties in order to make them more comfortable and energy efficient. His formal education was in Art and he spent the first 30 years of his career sculpting and painting. Grant’s interest in housing led to his training as an Energy Advisor and in January 2006 he received his certification. Later the same year, he also received certification as a “Well Water Guide” working on the “Well Aware” program where he visits rural homeowners and alerts them to possible hazards and problems that exist or may develop with their wells or septic systems. This program helps to inspire them to improve their own situation thereby having a positive impact on the local aquifers and the region’s groundwater. Grant has lived in the Elora-Fergus area for the past 25 years with his wife and sons.

Matt Vermeulen (Wellington region)

Matt has been a certified energy advisor since 2007 after having graduated as valedictorian from the Advanced Housing Construction Carpentry program at the Algonquin Heritage Institute. He has worked as a design and construction consultant as well as a carpenter and has performed approximately 400 initial and follow up home energy evaluations. Matt has a Bachelor of Arts, Philosophy and History from Trent University and currently lives in Guelph.
 

Pete Livingston ( London region)

After graduating from Ryerson as a Mechanical Technologist, Pete went on to a career in Process Equipment Design Sales and Service. He has been a Certified Energy Advisor since 2003 and lives in Caledon.
 

Adam Deitz (Grey Bruce)

Adam graduated with a Mechanical Engineering diploma from Conestoga College, and has worked in the HVAC industry for 14 years, as a licensed Sheet Metal Worker for SMWIA Local 473.
